A detailed description of the itinerary
The journey begins with a scenic drive or flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. If you choose to drive, the trip takes approximately 6-7 hours, offering beautiful views of the countryside. Alternatively, a 25-minute flight offers a quicker route to Pokhara. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you’ll have free time to explore the lakeside area, relax, and prepare for the trek ahead.
On Day 2, you’ll drive for 1.5 hours from Pokhara to Nayapul, the starting point of the trek. From Nayapul, you’ll embark on a relatively easy 4-5 hour walk to Tikhedhunga. The route takes you through terraced fields and small villages, providing an easy introduction to the trek. You’ll stay in a teahouse in Tikhedhunga for the night, getting your first taste of rural Nepalese life.
Day 3 marks the beginning of more challenging terrain as you trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani. The trail is steep, especially as you climb up to Ulleri, but the reward is worth it. You’ll continue through rhododendron forests, crossing streams and small villages, with the views of the mountains becoming more impressive. The trek takes about 6-7 hours, and Ghorepani is a popular resting point where you’ll stay overnight.
This day starts early with a hike up to Poon Hill to catch a stunning sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After enjoying the views, you’ll return to Ghorepani for breakfast, then begin your trek to Tadapani. The walk takes 5-6 hours and leads you through beautiful forests and villages, offering plenty of chances to stop and enjoy the scenic surroundings. Tadapani is a peaceful spot to rest for the night.
On Day 5, the trek takes you to Bayeli Kharka, a quiet and scenic area where you’ll spend the night. The trail ascends gradually, taking you through rhododendron forests, small villages, and streams, with wonderful views of the mountains. The walk takes about 6-7 hours, and Bayeli Kharka offers a perfect opportunity to rest and enjoy the beauty of the area.
Today’s trek takes you to Khopra Ridge, one of the highlights of the trek. After about 4-5 hours of trekking, you’ll reach the ridge, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This peaceful spot is perfect for taking in the stunning mountain scenery, and you’ll have plenty of time to relax and soak in the views. You’ll spend the night at Khopra Ridge.
On Day 7, you begin your descent, trekking for 5-6 hours to Swanta Village. As you descend, the landscape changes from mountain views to terraced fields and small villages. The walk is mostly downhill, making it easier on the legs after the previous day’s ascent. Swanta is a charming village where you’ll spend the night, surrounded by beautiful scenery.
On the final day of the trek, you’ll trek for 5-6 hours downhill from Swanta to Nayapul. From Nayapul, you’ll take a 1.5-hour drive back to Pokhara, where you can relax and reflect on your adventure. If you have time, you can explore more of Pokhara before returning to Kathmandu.
