A detailed description of the itinerary
Travel by road or flight to Pokhara (6-7 hours by road or 25 minutes by flight). Enjoy the evening at Phewa Lake and relax in this scenic city.
Fly to Jomsom (25 minutes). Upon arrival, acclimatize to the altitude and explore the town. Jomsom serves as the starting point for the trek.
Trek to Chele. The trail goes through desert landscapes and offers views of the Nilgiri and Annapurna mountains. Stay overnight in a local teahouse.
Trek from Chele to Syangboche (11 km, 6-7 hours). You will pass through the beautiful village of Samar before reaching Syangboche, where you can enjoy the high-altitude environment.
Trek to Ghami (9 km, 5-6 hours). This section offers stunning views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Ghami is a small village that offers a peaceful atmosphere.
Continue to Tsarang (6 km, 4-5 hours), a village with a rich history. Tsarang has ancient monasteries and offers beautiful views of the Mustang Valley.
Trek to Lo Manthang (12 km, 5-6 hours), the ancient walled city. Lo Manthang is the capital of Upper Mustang, and you can visit the Lo Manthang Palace, Chodey Monastery, and other significant cultural sites.
Take a day to explore Lo Manthang. You can visit Namgyal Monastery and the King’s Palace. You may also want to hike to nearby caves or Ghar Gompa, an ancient monastery.
Trek from Lo Manthang to Dhakmar (12 km, 6 hours). Dhakmar is known for its spectacular cliffs and panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Trek from Dhakmar to Ghiling (9 km, 5-6 hours), a traditional village that gives you a chance to explore its monasteries and cultural sites.
Trek to Chuksang (9 km, 5 hours). This is a pleasant downhill section where you’ll retrace part of your route, crossing rivers and passing through isolated villages.
Trek back to Jomsom (10 km, 4-5 hours).
Return to Kathmandu via flight or bus enjoying the magesic mountains and river along the way
Take a flight back to Pokhara. From Pokhara, you can either relax or explore the lakeside area. End the day with a peaceful evening in Pokhara
