A detailed description of the itinerary
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. The day is free for rest and relaxation after your journey. You will also have a briefing on the trek itinerary.
Explore Kathmandu’s cultural and historical landmarks such as Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath Stupa. In the afternoon, complete any last-minute trek preparations, including finalizing permits.
Fly to Nepalgunj in the western region of Nepal. This city is a major gateway for trekkers heading to Dolpo. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for an overnight stay.
Take an early flight to Jhupal. Begin your trek to Dunai, the administrative center of the Dolpo region. You will pass through beautiful forests and local villages. Overnight in Dunai.
Trek along the Bheri River, moving through dense forests and crossing suspension bridges. Reach Tarakot, a village known for its ancient fort and rich history. Stay overnight in Tarakot.
The trek continues as you climb gradually towards Laini, passing through narrow gorges and small villages along the way. The beautiful landscape and remote atmosphere make for a memorable experience.
Today, you’ll continue ascending to Nawapani, crossing forests and river valleys. The higher you get, the more dramatic the landscapes become. Overnight in Nawapani.
Trek through alpine forests and rugged terrain as you make your way to Do Tarap, a village located at a high altitude. The Tibetan influence is evident in the architecture and culture. Overnight in Do Tarap.
Acclimatization is crucial at this altitude. Spend the day exploring the village, visiting the Do Tarap Monastery, and interacting with the locals. Rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Start the ascent towards the base of Numa La Pass. The trek offers magnificent mountain views, and you’ll see a distinct change in vegetation as you approach higher altitudes. Stay overnight in the base camp.
This is one of the toughest days of the trek. You will cross Numa La Pass at 5,190m, the highest point of the trek. After crossing the pass, descend to Jhalala for the night, where you will be surrounded by impressive mountain scenery.
Descend to the sacred Phoksundo Lake, a stunning turquoise lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks. This is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal. Enjoy the peaceful ambiance and spend the night near the lake.
Another rest day to explore Phoksundo Lake and its surroundings. You can take short walks around the lake, visit the Phoksundo Monastery, or simply enjoy the serene beauty of the area.
Begin your descent towards Chhepka. The trek today is relatively easy, passing through forests and along rivers. You’ll stay overnight in a village, interacting with locals.
Continue trekking down to Shyanta, a peaceful village where you’ll experience the rural lifestyle of the Dolpo region. The scenery along the way is spectacular, with views of snow-capped mountains and lush green landscapes.
Retrace your steps towards Dunai, passing through villages and crossing bridges. You will feel a sense of accomplishment as you approach the end of your journey.
Complete the last leg of your trek back to Jhupal. This is a relatively easy day of trekking, allowing you to relax and reflect on the journey.
Take a flight from Jhupal to Nepalgunj, then continue your flight back to Kathmandu. Once in Kathmandu, you can rest, shop for souvenirs, or explore the city before preparing for your departure.
