This day will be focused on getting comfortable with the surroundings and preparing for the upcoming sightseeing days.
On Day 2, you will begin your exploration of Lhasa. Start with a visit to the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, perched majestically on a hill. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site with stunning views of the city. Then, head to Jokhang Temple, one of the most sacred sites in Tibetan Buddhism, where pilgrims gather to pray. Afterward, walk around Barkhor Street, a traditional market encircling the temple, offering a glimpse into local culture with Tibetan handicrafts and religious items.
Day 3 is dedicated to visiting two major historical sites. This day provides a chance to experience both the natural beauty and the religious heritage of the region.
Travel to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city, to visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama. This monastery is one of Tibet’s most important and is renowned for its impressive architecture and serene atmosphere. You’ll have the chance to learn about the monastic life and explore the surrounding areas. Afterward, return to Lhasa for the evening.
