Kumbhakarna Expedition
Kumbhakarna is also known as Jannu Mountain. The name Kumbhakarna was derived from the name of a giant Kumbahakarna who was the younger brother of giant Rawan. It is situated 11km to the west of the summit of Kanchenjunga in Eastern part of Nepal in Kanchenjunga Conservation Area. It is very difficult peak to climb, with a summit pyramid that is steep on all sides. The first ascended route is difficult, although not extreme, route up the Southeast Ridge, from the Yamatari Glacier. Neighboring peak Jannu East, 7468m, was unclimbed as of 1997.
On the climbing side, no experience is necessary; however you must be well-known with alpine environment and must understand the risks that camping and climbing above the snowline pose. Once you climbed on it you will never forget it climbing experience.
