Kanchenjunga Trekking

Kanchenjunga (8586m) is the third highest mountain in the world situated in eastern part of Nepal on the border of Nepal and Sikkim. Kanchenjunga  is derived from the Tibetan word ‘Kanchen’ and ‘Dzonga’ meaning ‘Five Treasures of the Great Snow’.  Since 1988, Kanchenjunga trek had been opened for all foreigners.  Kanchenjunga trekking region is protected by Kanchenjunga Conservation Area which covers an area of 2,035sq.km. It is one of the most remote areas. Because of its remote location in Nepal and difficult door from India, the Kanchenjunga region is not much explored by trekkers. Since Kanchenjunga lies in between India and Nepal we can climb this mountain from both countries. But the Sikkim’s regard Kanchenjunga as a holy mountain supporting the local people Sikkim government banned expedition from the India side. Therefore all expedition to Kanchenjunga are arranged from Nepal side.

Trekking in this remote area will be a memorable moment for all visitors in their lifetime. The conservation area has an exclusive mountain ecosystem wrap within these hidden valleys, forest s full with species of birds and endangered wildlife including snow leopards and red pandas. After walking few days we can see yak grazing slowly and colorful alpine flowers bloom.  We can have empirical view of  the world’s four highest peak – Everest, Lhotse, Makalu and Kanchenjunga.  While trekking in this area, we can also enjoy  different tradition, culture, lifestyles of local people which are different from other place. Since, the Kanchenjunga region is not much explored by trekkers. It has, therefore, retained much of its pristine beauty.
