Honey Hunting Tour

Honey harvesting is the gathering of honey from wild bee colonies and is one of the most ancient human activities and is still practiced by our societies. Nepal is not only famous for trekking and climbing in the high mountains but is also for the honey hunting. Honey hunting is the real and rare activity of original Gurung and Magar Community of west central Nepal entering the jungle in search of wild honey where they use indigenous tools under precarious condition to collect honey.

Some villagers in Nepal depend on honey hunting for their livelihood. Apis laborious is the biggest honeybee in the planet. These bees construct their hives on the cliffs of the Himalayas foothills. Honey Hunting is age- old tradition in the mountains of Nepal. The local celebrates the honey hunting as a festival by offering flowers, grains and sheep to the God before hunting. Although it is the tradition to local people, it could be a well worth adventure to the worlds. They hunt the honey twice (spring and autumn) in a year. The leader of the hunter drop down from top of the rock by the bamboo ropes ladder while others help him to collect the honey, relay the baskets and hold a rope properly. Besides enjoying honey hunting you can enjoy with Nepal’s natural, cultural beauty and Himalayan view at the same time.
